From 19 to 22 May 2026, Paris once again became the beating heart of interventional cardiovascular medicine. EuroPCR 2026 welcomed 12,147 participants from all over the world — including interventional cardiologists, surgeons, imagers, nurses and allied professionals, across more than 550 sessions. The ictaro team was there, and we came back inspired.
Live cases and complex lesions
One of EuroPCR's signature features is its live case programme, and 2026 was no exception. We attended several live procedures and witnessed first-hand how interventional cardiologists approach some of the most challenging cases in practice today. A recurring topic was the identification and treatment of vulnerable plaque, with lively debate on the best strategies for managing complex lesions and preventing post-procedural complications. There is no single consensus, and that open exchange of expertise is exactly what makes EuroPCR so valuable.
Intravascular lithotripsy on the rise
Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) was firmly in the spotlight throughout the course. This rapidly emerging technique uses sonic waves to break down heavily calcified lesions that were previously difficult or risky to treat. Session after session, it was clear that the interventional cardiology community is embracing IVL with growing confidence, and that the evidence base is strengthening quickly.
ShockFast IVL Trial: putting faces to names
A personal highlight of the week was Tuesday evening's dinner with sponsor Shunmei and the investigators of the ShockFast IVL Trial, a clinical trial that ictaro is proud to facilitate. Getting together in person, sharing a meal and strengthening relationships is something no video call can replace. Moments like these remind us why being present at events like EuroPCR matters beyond the science.

Why we attend
At ictaro, staying at the forefront of cardiovascular research is not just a professional obligation. It is core to what we do. Understanding where the field is heading helps us better support the trials, sponsors and investigators we work with every day.
